I am writing this today with a heavy heart but a hopeful spirit for my dear friend, Usman. Before his diagnosis, Usman was a vibrant, hard-working individual full of dreams and life. He was the kind of person who would always stand up for others, but today, he is the one who needs us to stand up for him.
The Medical Condition
Usman has been diagnosed with End-Stage Renal Disease (Kidney Failure). His kidneys have lost their ability to function, meaning his body cannot filter toxins on its own. Currently, his survival depends entirely on dialysis, which he must undergo 3 times a week.
Dialysis is not a cure; it is a grueling, painful, and exhausting life-support treatment that keeps him alive while he awaits a potential transplant. Every session leaves him drained, yet he fights on with a smile, hoping for a better tomorrow.
