Behind every struggling household is a woman carrying silent strength often unseen, often unheard. Many of these women are widows raising children alone, women with disabilities, orphaned girls, or those who have lost everything except hope. Poverty has limited their choices, but it has not taken away their potential.
SMART STEP was created for these women.
At the Institute of Rural Management (IRM), we believe charity is not just about giving aid, it is about restoring dignity. SMART STEP helps vulnerable women take their first confident step toward independence by equipping them with practical skills, professional training, and life skills they can use to rebuild their lives.
For many women, this programme is the first time someone has invested in their ability, not their vulnerability. Through skills training and entrepreneurship support, they begin to earn, to decide, and to dream again. A woman who once depended on charity becomes someone who provides for her children with pride.
