I am Athar Shakeel, a graphic designer and video editor from Lahore, Pakistan. I am sharing my story in the hope of rebuilding my life through my own skills.

In 2016, I lost my mother in a tragic accident. After her death, I continued working to support our household. For four to five years, I worked at SHE TECHNOLOGY, a software house, as a graphic designer. For some time, our family was financially stable, with a car, two Honda 70s and a Honda 125. Later, our circumstances changed significantly.

After my brother married, family conflicts became frequent. In 2023, my brother moved to Saudi Arabia. During this period, my father's pension savings were withdrawn. When I returned from Dubai, I discovered that our car, Honda 125 and one Honda 70 had been sold, leaving only the older Honda 70. My share of my mother's gold was also taken by my brother, who said he would keep it safely in a locker. Later, when I needed money to buy a laptop, I found that it was no longer available to me. My father's pension savings had also been used, leaving him with little financial security.

During my sister's wedding, my brother said he would pay for the meal, but I later learned that he had borrowed Rs. 300,000 from my father. Money my sister received as wedding gifts was also used for expenses. There was also a 10-marla plot arranged through my maternal uncle, funded through salary deductions and contributions from family members, including my mother, my brother and me. I later discovered that the plot had been transferred into my brother's name without the family being informed.

Despite these difficulties, I continued working because my father depended on me. I later joined AVS Marketing. Initially, I worked from the office, but the company later shifted employees to work from home. I had already explained that I could not work from home. The owner then asked me to work from his home, so I travelled regularly beyond Bahria Town. After Eid, HR informed me that my services were no longer required. The company owed me Rs. 42,000. I went to the police station seeking help, but I could not recover my earnings.

With no savings and household expenses to manage, I eventually had to sell my laptop. It was the main tool I needed for graphic design and video editing. Without it, I lost the ability to work independently and earn through my profession.

Today, my father is over 75 years old, and we live together. Most of the household responsibility rests on me. I currently work at a pet shop as a daily wage worker, earning only Rs. 600 per day. Around Rs. 100 goes toward petrol, and I give the remaining Rs. 500 to my father. This income is not enough to support our needs or rebuild my career.

I want to return to graphic design and video editing, work online, to support my father. I have years of experience in graphic design, video editing and social media content creation, but without a laptop I cannot properly use these skills. Even travelling to job interviews in DHA and Gulberg III is difficult because of my limited petrol budget, so I am trying to find work closer to home.

I am not asking for luxury or an expensive lifestyle. I am asking for a laptop and a chance to work again. With the right equipment, I can work remotely, find clients and earn honestly through the skills I have spent years developing. My goal is to raise enough money to purchase a suitable laptop for professional work. Any contribution, no matter how small, can bring me closer to becoming financially independent again and supporting my elderly father.

I lost my mother, the financial stability our family once had, and the laptop that allowed me to earn a living, but I have not lost my willingness to work hard. Please help me rebuild my livelihood and return to the profession I know. May ALLAH reward every person who supports me or shares my story.
